Some reasons for seeking OT assessment or treatment at Built Like Me include:
Occupational Therapists, or OT's, are holistic, person centred health professionals who strive to support clients to archive the goals important to the individual. We focus on a persons strengths, goals, roles and function. OT's working in Mental Health have additional knowledge and skills supporting those with metal health difficulties. OT's in Mental Health are great at working with kids who don't want to do 'talking' therapies.
All initial and regular appointments occur at our Mooroolbark office. Outreach appointments are available for clients when available on an as needed basis. These are most commonly for school or kinder visits to observe the child in their learning environments and work with the child's teachers and support staff.
A sensory profile is a picture of how an individual uniquely experiences the world around them. Every person has a sensory profile, there is no good or bad, right or wrong, it is just how we are built, like your hight, hair colour or eye colour. A very tall person has different advantages and challenges to that of a very short person. Consider getting things of the top shelf, or sitting on a plane for a long haul flight. By understanding a persons sensory profile, their strengths, and day to day life we can support them and those around them to make small changes to help them make the most of life.
